2-(dimethylamino)phenylmethanol is a chemical that belongs to the class of aromatic compounds. It is used in organic synthesis to form nitro and zinc chloride, which are reagents for the synthesis of aminobenzyl (2-aminobenzyl alcohol). When 2-(dimethylamino)phenylmethanol reacts with potassium borohydride, it yields an amido group. This reaction is also known as the "Buchwald-Hartwig reaction." 2-(dimethylamino)phenylmethanol is also used in organic syntheses to form monoalkyl chlorides, which are useful for the preparation of anthranilic acid and tetrahydrofuran.
