1,3-Bis(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)benzene is a ligand that is used in photocatalysis. It has been shown to have a high affinity for mineralization and can be used to remove organic pollutants from wastewater. The compound has also been reported to have an interaction with the heterocyclic ring of an adjacent molecule. 1,3-Bis(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)benzene has been shown to bind strongly to metal halides and can be used as a ligand for coordination complexes. It is also used in microscopy studies due to its strong fluorescence emission.
