Descripción

1-(3,6-Dimethylpyrazin-2-yl)ethanone is an alkaline substance that belongs to the class of echinocandins. It has been shown to have a potent inhibitory effect on Trichosporon cutaneum, Candida glabrata and other opportunistic fungal pathogens. 1-(3,6-Dimethylpyrazin-2-yl)ethanone inhibits the growth of Trichosporon cutaneum through inhibition of sulfate uptake and acetaldehyde biosynthesis. This substance also inhibits the synthesis of pheromones in insects. It has shown inhibitory concentrations against resistant strains of C. glabrata but not against other species such as Candida albicans or Candida tropicalis.
