It has been shown to be a nucleophilic reagent and to react with carbonyl compounds such as benzyl. This compound can also be used as a transition-metal catalyst for the synthesis of organic compounds and yields high densities in solvents. 1-Bromo-2-(2-ethoxyethoxy)ethane can also be used to synthesize functionalized halides, such as fluoride or halides, by reacting with chlorine or other halogens.
