It reacts with an enzyme to produce a fluorescent product that can be detected using an appropriate instrument. 2,4-Dinitrophenyl)-L-lysine hydrochloride monohydrate has shown to be a useful tool for the detection of a wide range of enzymes, including alkaline phosphatase, esterases, and proteases.
