Sceptrin dihydrochloride is a natural product that is the first asymmetric synthesis of the sceptrin molecule. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and can be used for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. Sceptrin dihydrochloride inhibits the activity of leukotriene A4 hydrolase, which is an enzyme that controls the production of leukotrienes. This inhibition leads to decreased levels of leukotrienes and reduced inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. Sceptrin dihydrochloride has also been shown to have an effect on skeleton cells, where it can inhibit bone resorption by activating osteoclasts and inhibiting osteoblasts.
