Fusarochromanone is a natural compound that has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on cancer cells. It has been shown to induce cell lysis and apoptosis in MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells, as well as prostate cancer cells. Fusarochromanone induces cell death by targeting the DNA polymerase and blocking the synthesis of DNA. It also inhibits the expression of an enzyme called topoisomerase IIβ, which is involved in DNA replication and repair. Fusarochromanone was found to be effective against skin cancer cells, such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma cells. This drug can be used as a potential therapeutic agent for cancers with high levels of topoisomerase IIβ expression.
