Descripción:Abamine is a cytosolic protein that binds to the enzyme carotenoid oxygenase and inhibits its activity. It is an inhibitor of carotenoid biosynthesis in plants, leading to inhibition of plastid function. Abamine has been shown to induce plant nodule formation and enhance the production of carotenoids in vitro, as well as inhibit the expression of genes involved in the response pathway to infection. The chemical structure of abamine is similar to that of a hydroxyl group, which may explain its ability to inhibit carotenoid oxygenase.
