Gancaonin M is a product research with vitro cytotoxic activity. It is a protonated glycyrrhizic acid derivative, which consists of an aromatic hydroxy group, an alcohol function and a sugar moiety. Gancaonin M is effective for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance by activating pancreatic lipase. This product also has prenylflavonoids that have proliferator effects on pancreatic cells in vitro. Molecular docking analysis has shown that Gancaonin M binds to insulin receptor β-subunit with high affinity.
