(2S,3S)-(-)-Glucodistylin is a 3-glucoside that belongs to the group of isofraxosides. It has been shown to inhibit intestinal sucrase and hyperglycemia in mice. (2S,3S)-(-)-Glucodistylin also inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory factors such as TNF-α and IL-1β. This compound has high radical scavenging activities, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines. Recombinant human glucodistylin can be used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
