6,6,7,7,8,8,8-Heptafluoro-5,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)-1,3-octadiene is a fluorinated ionic liquid that can be used as an extender for styrene. It has shown to be compatible with hexafluorophosphate and tetrafluoroborate in the polymerization of polyurethane. It is hydrophobic with a low melting point due to its fluoroalkyl chains. 6,6,7,7,8,8,8-Heptafluoro-5,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)-1,3-octadiene is also an ionic liquid that can be used as a solvent for ionic reactions and has been shown to have high solubility for ionic compounds such as hexafluorophosphate and tetrafluoroborate.
