Descripción

SNJ-1945 is a hydroxylated inhibitor drug that is being developed as a potential neuroprotective agent. It has shown to be effective in vivo in models of neuronal death and has been shown to reduce the incidence of cardiac damage following myocardial infarction. SNJ-1945 inhibits proteolytic enzymes, such as calpain and cathepsin G, which are involved in necrotic cell death. SNJ-1945 also acts as an immunomodulator by activating microglia cells, which are the resident macrophages of the central nervous system, and increasing the production of colony-stimulating factors that promote neuronal growth.
