Alisporivir is an antiviral drug that inhibits the replication of HIV. It is a cyclic peptide that acts by binding to the mitochondrial membrane potential, which prevents the virus from entering hepatocytes. Alisporivir has been shown to be active against strains of HIV that are resistant to other drugs and can be used in combination with other drugs for patients with hepatitis, who have liver cells that are impaired due to viral infection.
