Descripción:BAY 12-17389 is a novel anticancer drug that inhibits the activity of CDK4 and CDK6. It is an imidazopyrazine derivative, which binds to the ATP-binding pocket of the enzyme, thereby preventing its activation. BAY 12-17389 has shown anticancer activity in animal models for skin cancer and bladder cancer. In vitro assays have demonstrated that BAY 12-17389 is effective at inhibiting proliferation of cultured cells from different types of human cancers. The effective dose for BAY 12-17389 is not yet known but it has been shown to be safe at doses as high as 2 µM.
