• Descripción: JTK-853 is a histidine-based compound that has potent inhibitory activity against hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV). It binds to the replicon and prevents RNA polymerase from transcribing viral DNA. JTK-853 also inhibits human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) by preventing reverse transcriptase from synthesizing DNA, but has no effect on human serum albumin. The drug is currently in clinical development for HBV and HCV infections. Strategies to prevent resistance include using genotype information to select patients who are likely to be responsive to JTK-853, or using non-nucleoside inhibitors as an adjunct therapy for those who are resistant.
