It has been shown to have significant anti-inflammatory activity in a rat model of thrombosis and in a mouse model of brain tumor. 1-[(4-Chloro-3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl]-1H pyrazole 3 carboxylic acid is also used as a copper chelator. This compound binds to copper ions and prevents them from catalyzing reactions that are important for bacterial cell wall synthesis.
