2-Amino-6-methoxy-3-nitropyridine is an organic compound that inhibits the Na+/K+ pump. It has been shown to be effective in reducing inflammatory pain, and its efficacy is not affected by prior administration of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The pump inhibitor works by binding to the membrane protein and preventing it from transporting sodium ions out of the cell. 2-Amino-6-methoxy-3-nitropyridine is a molecule with a vibrational frequency that matches that of the pump's active site, which causes it to bind more tightly. This chemical also reacts with water molecules to form a neutralizing hydroxide solution. The optimal reaction temperature for this process is between 10°C and 20°C. In addition, this product can be recycled as long as it does not come into contact with metal ions such as chloride or nitrate.
