1-Adamantyl methyl ketone is an organic compound that has been shown to have inhibitory effects on the growth of a variety of infectious diseases. It does this by reacting with sodium salts in a solution, which inhibits the reaction by removing the hydrogen ions from the solution. 1-Adamantyl methyl ketone can also be used as a chemical biology tool to study receptor activity and how it interacts with other molecules. The presence of a hydroxyl group on this molecule makes it susceptible to light exposure, which causes it to degrade over time. This molecule has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, and may be useful for treatment of inflammatory diseases such as asthma or hyperproliferative disease.
