• Descripción: 1-Aminohydantoin hydrochloride is an intermediate in the synthesis of the aminohydantoins, a class of drugs used to treat epilepsy. It is also used as a reagent for preparing monoclonal antibodies. 1-Aminohydantoin hydrochloride is prepared by reacting hydrochloric acid with hydrazine and sodium citrate, followed by purification using distillation and recrystallization. 1-Aminohydantoin hydrochloride can be used to determine the presence of chloride ions in animal tissues by measuring its chemical shift on a mass spectrometer. This drug has been shown to inhibit oxidative DNA damage in rat kidneys, which may be due to its ability to suppress reactive oxygen species production.
