Descripción:1-Aminoindane HCl is an inhibitor of the enzyme aminotransferase, which is involved in the metabolism of amines. It binds to the active site of this enzyme and prevents it from catalyzing its usual reaction. 1-Aminoindane HCl has been shown to inhibit 5-hydroxytryptamine uptake and release in rat brain synaptosomes. This drug also inhibits the binding of a number of drugs (e.g., amphetamine) to their receptors on plasma membranes and blocks the binding of drugs such as pargyline and α-methylparatyrosine to their receptors on mitochondria. 1-Aminoindane HCl is also a competitive inhibitor for primary amines such as tyramine and phenylethylamine.
