Descripción

This compound is a fluorescent probe for the identification of cross-linking in proteins. The probe binds to the cysteine residues in the protein, which are important for ATPase activity. When it is bound, there is an increase in fluorescence emission that can be detected by a fluorimeter. The binding of this probe can be used to identify conformational changes in proteins that are induced by ATP hydrolysis and the binding of ADP or AMP. The probe has been shown to function as an electron donor with cysteine residues, and it has been reconstituted with purified atpase enzymes containing cysteine residues. This interaction results in enhanced fluorescence emission due to increased resonance energy transfer between the probe and electron acceptor.
