3-[7-Azido-2-(trifluoromethyl)-10H-phenothiazin-10-yl]-N,N,N-trimethyl-1-propanaminium iodide is a red blood cell photoaffinity labeling agent that is used to study the binding of hydrophobic drugs with red blood cells. It binds to the membranes of erythrocytes in the presence of ultraviolet irradiation and binds covalently to proteins in the cytoplasm or nucleus. 3-[7-Azido-2-(trifluoromethyl)-10H-phenothiazin-10-yl]-N,N,N-trimethyl-1-propanaminium iodide has been shown to bind specifically to red blood cells that are not affected by irradiation.
