[(2R,3S,5R)-2-(Acetyloxymethyl)-5-[5-Fluoro-3-(3-Methylbenzoyl)-2,4-Dioxopyrimidin-1-Yl]Oxolan-3-Yl] Acetate is a prodrug that has been shown to be effective against cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. It is converted by deacetylation into the active form of the drug, [(2R,3S,5R)-2-(Acetyloxymethyl)-5-[5-Fluoro-3-(3-Methylbenzoyl)-2,4-Dioxopyrimidin-1-Yl]Oxolan]-3-Yl] Acetic Acid (TZPPA), which inhibits thymidine synthesis.
