Descripción:Methyl ester of z-alanine and aspartic acid. The methyl ester is the reaction product of z-alanine and aspartic acid, which are modified amino acids. The methyl ester is a modification of an amino acid at its carboxyl group. This active site is found in the profile of a number of enzymes, including those that catalyze the hydrolysis of amides or esters. It may also be involved in the catalytic activity of alcohols. Z-Ala-Asp-OH can act as an inhibitor to certain enzymes that break down proteins, such as peptidases and proteases. It has been shown to be resistant to hydrolysis by amide and c-terminal amidases.
