2-Amino-4-methyl-5-bromopyrimidine is an isomer of 4,5-dibromopyrimidine. It has been shown to be a potent anti-cancer agent, with cytotoxic activity against various cancer cell lines. 2-Amino-4-methyl-5-bromopyrimidine also has a profile that is favorable in terms of hydrogen bond acceptor and donor groups, as well as being soluble in water. This compound has been synthesized by way of phenylurea and phosphoinositide synthons and has demonstrated the ability to form supramolecular assemblies. The synthesis of this compound includes the introduction of two methyl groups at C2 and C3 positions on the pyrimidine ring.
