5-Amino-2-methoxybenzamide (5AMB) is an amino acid that is located in the N-terminal region of the protein. It regulates protein structure and function by binding to the amino termini of proteins and stabilizing their shape. 5AMB has been shown to be able to denature proteins at temperatures above 45°C, but can be stabilized by a number of factors, including asparagine residues, positions in the sequence, or other homologues. 5AMB has also been shown to be resistant to proteolysis and cyclization.
