4-Amino-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxamide dihydrochloride is a synthetic heterocycle that has been studied for its structure activity relationship with glutamate. It has shown to be an effective agonist of the metabotropic glutamate receptor, and may be useful in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. 4-Amino-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxamide dihydrochloride also shows anti-cancer effects, which may be due to its ability to activate coagulation pathways and inhibit platelet aggregation. This compound is not orally bioavailable and must be administered through intravenous infusion.
