This compound has been shown to bind to the surface of Staphylococcus aureus and inhibits the growth of A. flavus at low concentrations. 4-Amino-5-propyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol has been used as a fluorescence probe that can be used to study the binding of proteins to DNA. It has also been shown to have magnetic properties and can be used as a reagent for the synthesis of square planar complexes with metal ions.
