This molecule has been shown to inhibit the influenza virus, which is a type of negative strand RNA virus. It reacts with the sulfide group on the influenza virus, forming a covalent bond. The structure of 2-(1-Adamantyl)propan-2-ol is similar to that of amantadine and azetidine, which are also antiviral drugs used for the treatment of influenza.
