3-Amino-4-hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid is a sulfonate compound that is used as an absorber in wastewater treatment. It can be immobilized and used in acidic environments, such as wastewater. When irradiated with ultraviolet light, 3-amino-4-hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid reacts with sulfamic acid to form a triazo product. 3-Amino-4-hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid is also used as an intermediate in the synthesis of dioxane from triazo. This chemical is also known for its use in the production of sulfanilate, which can be used to make particle boards or textiles. 3-Amino-4-hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid has been shown to have potentiodynamic polarization properties that make it useful for electrochemical applications.
