2-(Acetylamino)-4-nitrobenzoic acid is a metabolite of 4-aminobiphenyl. It is used to measure occupational exposure to 2-acetylaminophenol and 4-aminobiphenyl. It has been detected in human urine samples at low concentrations and can be found as the hydrochloride, nitrate, or chloride salt. 2-(Acetylamino)-4-nitrobenzoic acid has been shown to be an active metabolite of 4-aminobiphenyl in humans and therefore may serve as a marker for exposure to this chemical.
