4-Aminoisoindoline-1,3-dione is a molecule that binds to the histone deacetylase enzyme, which reverses the effects of DNA methylation and gene silencing. It has been shown to have activity against HDAC inhibitors. The fluorescence properties of 4-aminoisoindoline-1,3-dione are sensitive to changes in pH and can be used for monitoring hydrogen ion concentration. This molecule also forms a chelate ring with metal ions such as sodium carbonate and protonated amines. 4-Aminoisoindoline-1,3-dione is an example of bioconjugate chemistry because it can be used as a tag for other molecules or drugs with complementary functional groups.
