It has been shown to inhibit aminotransferase activity and uptake of glutamic acid, aspartic acid, and serine in rats. 3-Aminocyclohexanecarboxylic acid also binds to the receptor for acetylcholine and β-amino acids in rat brains. Additionally, it has been found to be an inhibitor of potassium ion uptake in rats. 3-Aminocyclohexanecarboxylic acid is a pharmacological agent that is used in transgenic animals to study the role of serine protease in thrombin receptor activation.
