2-Amino-4-chlorothiazole-5-carbaldehyde (2ACTCA) is a reagent that is used for the synthesis of polyester. It has a bathochromic shift in absorption spectroscopy and can be used as a dye. 2ACTCA reacts with cellulose acetate to form a diglycidyl ether, which is then reacted with formaldehyde to produce an adduct. The formyl group can be removed by thiourea, yielding 2ACTCA.
