1-Amino-2-naphthoic acid (1AN) is a synthetic molecule that has been shown to react with terminal alkynes and carbonitriles to form dibutylbenzannulation. 1AN can also be used to introduce enolate groups into carbocycles, which can be used to synthesize heterocycles.
