2-Amino-8-aza-7-deazaadenosine is a nucleoside that is used in the synthesis of nucleosides. It is an analog of adenosine and has been shown to have anticancer activity. It can be synthesized by reacting 2,8-diaminopurine with glycosyl chloride, followed by hydrolysis. The x-ray crystallographic study of this compound revealed that it forms two hydrogen bonds, one with ribose and one with a water molecule. This compound was also found to react with ribofuranose to form an adenine derivative.
