3-Amino-1,2,4-triazine is a chemical compound that has been used as a stabilizer in the manufacture of polyurethane foam. It can be synthesized by the reaction of ethylene diamine with hydrogen cyanide and carbon tetrachloride. This compound is an example of a triazine, which is characterized by three nitrogen atoms. 3-Amino-1,2,4-triazine can exist in two different forms: one with a nitrogen atom on each side of the central carbon atom and one with two nitrogen atoms on one side of the central carbon atom. The former form is called mesoporous and has been shown to have better stability than the latter form.
3-Amino-1,2,4-triazine has also been used for analytical purposes to detect hydrogen bonds between amino acids or peptides. In this application, it is known as "3-[(dimethylamino)
