5-Amino-3-methyl-isothiazole-4-carbonitrile (AMIC) is an amine that is used as a building block for the synthesis of cyclized products. It can be hydrolyzed to form an orthoester, which can be further reacted with xanthate to form an amide. This product also reacts with primary amines to form secondary and tertiary amines.
AMIC is commonly used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, dyes, and pesticides.
