6-Acetoxy-4-chloro-7-methoxyquinazoline is an inhibitor of the enzyme, cytochrome P450. It has been shown to have a potent inhibitory effect on du145 cells, which are human prostate cancer cells. 6-Acetoxy-4-chloro-7-methoxyquinazoline inhibits the synthesis of DNA and RNA and induces apoptosis in cancer cells. In addition, it has been shown to induce cell death in MCF7 breast carcinoma cells and inhibit the growth of breast cancer cells. This drug also causes cell death in mouse fibroblasts by inhibiting protein synthesis. The chemical structure of this compound is similar to that of anilines, which are known for their anticancer properties. The mechanism of action for 6-acetoxyquinazoline may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis.
