2-Acetamidopyridine is a chemical compound that is used in the manufacture of dyes, pharmaceuticals, and pesticides. 2-Acetamidopyridine has been shown to form a copper complex with high conductance when it is immobilized on an electrode surface. This complex can be used for sensing nitrate ions in water and soil samples. The electrochemical studies of this compound have revealed that the molecule forms intramolecular hydrogen bonds. NMR spectra have shown that 2-acetamidopyridine has two amide groups in its structure.
