It is also used in the synthesis of diazotised carbamic acid, which can be used to synthesize N-acetylglycol ester, a precursor for ropinirole hydrochloride, an antiparkinsonian agent. 1AN is a byproduct of the synthesis of 8-amino-2-naphthol and can be found in wastewater streams. It has been shown to react with nitric oxide to form nitro compounds, which are hazardous air pollutants.
