It is a substrate for human liver alcohol and glucuronide enzymes, which are responsible for its pharmacokinetic properties. The affinity of 4-acetylbenzenesulfonamide to ciprofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, has also been studied extensively. 4-Acetylbenzenesulfonamide has been found to have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. It also has shown anticancer activity in colon cancer cells by arresting the cell cycle at G2/M phase.
