The neurotoxic effects are due to its ability to inhibit various functions of brain cells, including cellular growth factor-β1. This chemical compound also inhibits polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with low doses. Aluminium chloride hexahydrate can be detected using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
