This inhibition leads to an increase in blood acidity, causing tumor cells to undergo lactic acidosis. 3A4OHBS also inhibits nitric oxide synthase and aminophenol oxidase, which are enzymes that produce nitric oxide and hydrogen peroxide respectively. These metabolites have been implicated in the induction of apoptosis and necrosis by reactive oxygen species.
