6-Aminomethylquinoline is a potent inhibitor of the transduction pathway in cancer cells. It inhibits cellular proliferation and induces apoptosis in cancer cells. 6-Aminomethylquinoline binds at the active site of the enzyme, which prevents the formation of ATP by inhibiting the transfer of phosphates from adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to phosphorylase kinase. This binding also prevents the hydrolysis of ATP to ADP and inorganic phosphate (Pi), which causes an increase in intracellular concentrations of ADP, Pi, and AMP, leading to inhibition of cellular proliferation and induction of apoptosis.
