This inhibitor is able to block the progression of prostate cancer cells, hematopoietic cells, and leukemias by preventing the binding of proteins to DNA. APE1 Inhibitor III also has pluripotent activities, which could lead to future treatments for diseases such as Alzheimer's disease.
