5-Amino-2-phenylpyridazin-3(2H)-one is a white crystalline solid with a bitter taste. It is soluble in water and alcohol, but insoluble in ether. 5-Amino-2-phenylpyridazin-3(2H)-one is an organic compound that contains a phenolic group. It is used as a precursor to other compounds, such as dyes, pharmaceuticals and pesticides. The chemical nature of the product was determined by filtration through acidified paper and the UV absorption spectrum of the filtrate. The compound was found to be excreted unchanged in urine, which indicates that it is not hydrolyzed or conjugated by the liver. Excretion of this substance is primarily via the kidneys for humans and rats; however, some animals may also excrete it through their lungs or skin. The high yield makes this compound economical for use in synthesis reactions.
