Descripción

(S)-1-Amino-3-chloro-2-propanol hydrochloride is a biologically active analogue of glyceraldehyde. It is used as an antifertility agent and has been shown to be effective at inhibiting the development of spermatozoa in both male and female rats. The drug is also known to inhibit acidolysis, which may be due to its inhibition of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase. (S)-1-Amino-3-chloro-2-propanol hydrochloride inhibits the metabolic rate of spermatozoa, which may be due to its inhibition of glycolysis, triosephosphate, or chloropropane.
