• Descripción: 3-(Acetylthio)propionic acid is a thiol-containing compound that has been shown to have antimicrobial activity. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor xenografts in mice, with an IC50 of 3.8 mM. 3-mercaptopropionic acid inhibits tumor cell proliferation by binding to proteins on the surface of cells, which may be due to its structural similarity to captopril. This compound also binds to peptides and phosphate groups and kills bacteria by interfering with their ribosomes. 3-(Acetylthio)propionic acid has also been synthesized using a new method that does not require any toxic reagents or solvents.
