Descripción

1-Allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride is a cationic surfactant with a high chemical stability. It is used as an ionic additive in the manufacture of cellulose products, such as paper and textiles, and as a textile softener. 1-Allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride reacts with hydrochloric acid in the presence of water to form hydrogen gas, which can be used for fuel cells. The reaction mechanism is based on the formation of an insoluble salt, which is precipitated from the solution by addition of water vapor or other solvents. 1-Allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride has been shown to have excellent surfactant properties and can be used as an additive in detergents or insecticides.
